The generic form of modafinil known as "Modafresh" has recently been available. They are available in 100 mg or 200 mg doses and have a round, unlabeled form. The active ingredients are D- and L-modafinil (more commonly referred to as S- and R- modafinil).
The FDA defines a generic version of a drug as one that is chemically and therapeutically equivalent to the brand-name version, and Modafresh meets these criteria. Typically, only the fillers and their relative proportions in the final product are modified from one production run to the next.
To that end, we expect Modafresh to have the same impact profile as the branded equivalent, Provigil® from Cephalon Inc.
Advantages of Using Modafresh
Insomnia caused by narcolepsy, sleep apnea, chronic exhaustion, or the negative effects of shift work are only some of the sleep disorders for which modafinil is a common prescription.
In addition, modafinil is often prescribed to persons with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) for the same reason: to help them focus and concentrate.
